Sophia Elizabeth Mangatal

Sophia Elizabeth Mangatal left her home country of Jamaica to pursue educational opportunities in the US. Her excellent performance at MIT earned her a place in the Eta Kappa Nu, Society of Electrical Engineers. Upon graduation, Sophia worked a number of years as a technical support analyst. There, in addition to increasing her technical knowledge, she gained valuable leadership and customer service skills as a coordinator of the call response group. Sophia realized however that her interests lay well beyond the scope offered to her in a technical position. She had an interest in marketing and learning business skills with the hope that one day she might be able to build her own company. She applied to Stanford University and was succesful in becoming one of the chosen few to be accepted to the Stanford Business School. As a Business Intern at Silicon Graphics, she helped the company gain a better understanding of the industries and applications that were making an impact on sales of SGI computers. While at Silicon Graphics, she became excited about the power and influence that technology was having on the entertainment industry and believed that her skills and knowledge could prove valuable in this fast-growing industry. Graduating in 1995 with an MBA, she accepted a position as Product Marketing Manager in the Applications Division of Oracle Corporation where she is involved in all aspects of the Development, Marketing and Sales of the product.

Sophia enjoys combining her technical and business skills in her marketing position. She has added a new dimension to her experience by becoming involved in studio workshops for Film Production at KMVT Channel 6.
