Name Carol Chambers-Blockton As I approached my middle twenties I found myself needing to do
more with life. I was sick of England's weather and decided to
give Jamaica a try. Although I was born in Jamaica, I left at
age 2 and thought this would be a good time for me to get to know
my country of birth. While living in Jamaica I planned a vacation
to California to meet up with a girlfriend from England. That
was in 1980. While on vacation I met a man who was latter to become my husband.
I thought it was just a holiday romance, but when I returned to
Jamaica we both run up high phone bills keeping in touch. I returned
to California in 1981 and have lived here since then. During my initial years in California, my fiancé and I formed
a partnership with a friend from Jamaica and opened a coffee shop
on Union Street in San Francisco. Due to conflicts of interest
we dissolved the partnership a couple of years later. In 1990 I attended travel school and started a new profession
as a travel consultant/event planner. I currently work for the
California Medical Association. "As I approached my middle twenties I found myself needing to
do more with life".

After working in San Francisco as a legal assistant for five years
we had our first child, a daughter named Zarinah. My son Omari
was born two years later. After several years at home with the
children I decided it was time for me to reenter the workforce.
I took this opportunity to make a career change.
