Name Ian Moore Born and raised in London, England, Ian Dawkins-Moore graduated
in 1970 with a Degree in Civil Engineering. He then traveled throughout
Europe, working at a variety of jobs in Turkey, Greece, Yugoslavia,
Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Belgium and Israel, where he worked
on Kibbutz for six months. Upon returning to England in 1972,
Ian studied English literature while continuing his work in the
civil engineering industry. Along the way, Ian taught and worked as a graphic designer, sales
executive and diamond miner. In 1976 Ian again returned to England, and worked on an oil rig
in the North Sea as a roust about) and as a planning engineer
for an oil company in Aberdeen, Scotland before running his own
business as an antique dealer. Ian also played saxophone in various
bands at local establishments and was involved in a number of

In 1974, Ian decided to dedicate himself to the teaching profession
and traveled to West Africa to teach for two years. During this
period, Ian crossed the Sahara desert through Algeria, Mali (visiting
Timbutoo). Upper Volta (now Bukina Faso). Ghana, Cote dIvoire,
Liberia and Sierra Leone.
Then in 1981, Ian moved to the United States and established himself
as a freelance writer, graphic artist, civil engineer and award
winning video producer. Ian currently resides in Oakland, California
and is producing the Great Black Inventors video series, and is
the executive producer and force behind a video news magazine
called CULTURE SHOCK which explores the contributions and confrontations
of different cultures.
