Lichelli Lazar-Lea was born in Trinidad, to an Afro-Trinidadian father and a British mother of mixed European and Arab descent.

She grew up in England and from the age of two with the exception of two years spent in Quebec, Canada. At eighteen Lichelli moved to California where she studied Illustration at the Academy of Art until she changed her major to film production. Lichelli graduated with honors from San Francisco State University's highly respected Cinema program in 1997. Her student film entitled “Fact or Fiction,” received an honorable mention for both best film and best screenplay at the 45th Annual Columbus International Film Festival and has been shown in both the US and England.

Lichelli’s talents however, are by no means limited to film. She has also written and directed a one-act play entitled “Watching the Jumpers.” A published freelance writer, Lichelli has two articles in an Anthology of young black writers entitled “Testimony” published by Beacon Press. “Testimony” is required reading in the Black Studies departments in both the State and University of California school systems. She has also been featured in Essence Magazine and is a published poet.

Today Lichelli has residences in both Northern and Southern California where she works professionally as a Production Coordinator on both music videos and major motion pictures. She is currently working on Universal Pictures “Ed TV,” directed by Ron Howard. Lichelli is also writing and developing several feature film projects to begin production next year, as well as directing a number of smaller projects in order to further develop her commercial reel.
